My name is Brandy, and I am a beautiful, marmalade girl whose special background makes me so deserving of a home. Let me tell you my story. I was abandoned at the FOHA shelter, left in a cat carrier, pregnant and scared. Four days after my arrival, I gave birth to a litter of beautiful kittens. Now, my kittens were outgoing and personable from the beginning, but it has been a longer road for me to finally learn to love and trust. It was readily apparent to the FOHA volunteers that I hadn’t always had an easy life. I was ever so slow to trust and skittish when facing new experiences — if given the choice between pets and a hiding spot, I chose to hide. Though not an official FOHA-sanctioned term, one might have referred to me as a “scaredy-cat.” But the patience of the FOHA volunteers — and my patience, as well — has been rewarded. I have slowly learned to trust, and I am finally reaping the benefits of allowing these peculiar human folks to offer me love. Though I may still look at you with concern from time to time when you bend over to pet me, I do allow affection to be given to me at last! I recognize those people whom I have learned to trust — such as my former foster mom — and I show her how confident and happy I’ve become by rubbing up against her legs when she comes to the FOHA communal cattery to visit. My rubbing and rolling on the floor is just an invitation for you to come down to join me, where I feel most comfortable with you — and where I can walk up …
