Is olive oil safe for cats to eat? What about legumes like lentils and grains like rice or maize?

I am trying out different home cooked meals for my adult cat to supplement the rather boring dry cat food (Royal Canin Persian 30). This is intended as more of a treat (about 1-2 tablespoons) per day to enhance his moisture intake. The meals will be unsalted and unspiced, of course. Will ingredients like olive oil, lentils and grains aside from the meat (chicken, lamb or whatever) be OK for him to eat?
Thanks very much for the helpful advice!

What’s the best cat food?

I understand that it is normal for cats to supplement their diet with grass to give extra minerals, etc. However, logically speaking, thus indicates a deficiency in the quality of the cat food. Otherwise she would not need to eat grass to make up the nutritional difference. It seems to me, therefore that it is “normal” for cats to eat grass because most cat food is of poor quality.

I used to cook for the cat on occasion: chicken, fish, etc. Her fur was shiny and she almost never had hairballs. She was in great health and almost never ate grass. But, lately, she’s started to get some gingivitis and stinky breath. This means thar homecooked food is out! We need to feed her crunchy food to keep her teeth clean.

I need nutritious cat food suggestions that work! Ideas?

(No, I’m not going to brush her teeth. She would take my hand off if I tried. And no, she doesn’t like kitty “treats” that clean her teeth.)

product reviews for cat allergy supplements?

I have a cat with various allergies including grains, vaccines, and season pollen issues and maybe dust mites. This has been confirmed over the past 4 years but she seems to develop new allergies as time goes on. The environmental type allergies are new this year.
I have been to the vet countless times because she is now on steroid shots monthly and a special grain free cat food. We are trying to do a more holistic treatment without the shots. The doctor recommends trying an Omega 3 and 6 supplement or changing her diet. Our local ultra-premium pet supply provider recommended a product called Pro-biotic to go on her food. Has anybody tried this before? They also said we could try a topical skin itch reliever.

Does anybody have any experience or advice for us in controlling her allergies and reducing symptoms including licking bald spots and chronic “thumb sucking”,
